Experience An Art Exhibition Featuring Portraits of Dogs, With Your Dog

Enjoy the dog days of Summer with a new art exhibit on the North Shore, appropriately called Dog Days at The Polygon Gallery. It’s a unique photo and video collection showing the relationship between humans and our four-legged BFFs.

The exhibit consists of a combination of classic images, contemporary work, and vintage photographs from several archives. It’s a glimpse into the history of dogs and how they’ve shaped the lives of many people.

And the best part of the entire exhibit is that you can enjoy it with your own dog! All pups are more than welcome to accompany you to the exhibit (as long as they’re on a leash, of course).

Dog lovers looking to truly capture the moment are able to book a private dog portrait session with award-winning Canadian artist Shari Hatt.

The exhibit is happening every Saturday from now until September.

Vancouver artist Geoffrey Wallang will be constructing a temporary tintype dog portrait studio at The Polygon Gallery.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣A tintype is a photograph made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal coated with photographic emulsion. Tintypes enjoyed their widest use during the 1860s and 1870s, but lesser use of the medium persisted into the early 20th century and it has been revived as a fine art form in the 21st century. Each tintype is a camera original, a unique one of a kind image.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Cost: $250 for a unique tintype of your dog (with or without the owner in the portrait).⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Reservations are required. To book an appointment, please call the gallery at 604-986-1351 or email info@thepolygon.ca.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Photo: Geoffrey Wallang, Bruce, 2018⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣#dogdays #thepolygon #dogportraits #tintypedogportraits #dog #dogs #geofferywallang #dogportraitstudio #tintype #ilovedogs #dogsofinstagram #dogoftheday #photography #mediaart #artgallery #vancouverart #vancouvergallery #contemporaryphotography
