According to Vancouver International Airport (YVR), the upgrades will be coming to Dinsmore Bridge “to ensure the longevity, resilience, and reliability of this critical piece of infrastructure.”

Dinsmore Bridge Upgrades

Work on Dinsmore Bridge is scheduled to run from September 14 through December 31, 2026. From Sunday to Friday between 10:00pm to 6:00am, all nightly traffic will be closed on Dinsmore Bridge during this period. Drivers will be detoured via No. 2 Rd. Bridge, which is around a 6-minute detour.

“The planned overnight closure and designated detour route will allow essential maintenance to be completed while supporting continued access to Sea Island for airport operations, employees, and the travelling public,” YVR wrote in a media release. “Outside of the closure hours, the speed limit will be reduced to 30 km/h.”

The work will be subject to multiple factors, including weather. For updates on the project, you can check out YVR’s X/Twitter @yvrairport / @yvraeroport or their website.

“Safety is our top priority. Please allow extra time if you are travelling through the area and obey all traffic personnel and signage.”
