Alcohol and speed are considered factors in an early Monday morning crash in Richmond.
In the early morning hours of January 21, 2019, Richmond RCMP responded to the area of No. 6 Road and Blundell Road after “reports of a single vehicle collision into a hydro pole. Significant efforts by emergency personnel were required to extricate two occupants from an overturned Honda sedan located in a ditch off road near the intersection” reads a statement.
Power outages were “reported throughout the area as power lines were visibly detached”.

The driver, a 21-year old female from Surrey and the passenger, a 22-year old female, also from Surrey, were rushed to the hospital.
The driver sustained critical injuries and the passenger sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
The Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit (RSU) is currently investigating alongside the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS).
