Metro Vancouver trampoline parks may see new regulations come into place in the future.

Michael Marti, the owner of Extreme Air Parks wrote a letter to Premier John Horgan asking the government to create new safety regulations for the industry.

“Extreme Air Parks believes it is important for British Columbians and visitors to have faith in our province’s safety standards overall and would welcome the regulation of trampoline parks, if the Province believes such regulation is warranted”.

Mr. Marti also stressed the organizations priorities and safety standards.

“Safety of our guests is our top priority. We have well established protocols to ensure our equipment is safe and properly maintained”.

The call for extra safety measures comes after a Victoria man died in a horrific accident at Extreme Air Park last month in Richmond.

Jay Greenwood, a father of two, was visiting the trampoline park with his children. While jumping from a raised trampoline, Grenwood broke his neck upon landing in the foam pit.

Before entering the park, all guests are required to sign a waiver form acknowledging risks and responsibilities during their visit.

The facility’s safety is now being questioned and the public wants to know that they’re safe to use before signing waivers.
