We’ve had a hotter than usual summer in Vancouver, so hot in fact, the weather has led the lower mainland into Stage 3 water restrictions. Fortunately, Environment Canada is predicting a week of cloudy, and rainy weather ahead.
According to the latest report, there will be a major shift in the weather beginning this weekend, and leading into next week. The forecast for this Saturday calls for highs of 20, and a 60 percent chance of showers during the day.
While Vancouverites are welcoming to the idea of rain, it still likely won’t be enough to get the lower mainland out of the Stage 3 drought. In an average year, Vancouver receives approximately 125mm of rain in the summer months of June, July, and August. In 2015 however, the summer months only received 36mm.
90 mm is needed to bring things up to par, which likely won’t happen anytime soon, as Vancouver is expected to remain under Stage 3 restrictions until the end of October, reports AccuWeather.
Fortunately, reservoir levels are increasing, and the chances of the 604 entering Stage 4 restrictions are very slim.
