10 Movies You Didn’t Know Filmed at BC Place

Multi-purpose is an understatement as BC Place Stadium is home to the BC Lions and Vancouver Whitecaps, holds conventions and mega-concerts, has hosted the Olympics and even doubles as Hollywood sets.

Here are 10 movies you didn’t know were filmed at BC Place:

Paycheck (2003)

John Woo directed an ensemble cast including Ben Affleck, Aaron Eckhart, Uma Thurman, Paul Giamatti, Michael C. Hall and more. The original short story was written by Philip K. Dick.

Shattered (2007)

BC Place was used in this 2007 crime drama starring Pierce Brosnan, Maria Bello and Gerard Butler.

The 6th Day (2000)

Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in this sci-fi action flick about clones which filmed around Vancouver from late 1999 until May 2000. The 6th Day used BC Place for the opening and football stadium scenes. The movie also filmed at UBC and Rogers Arena (formerly known as GM Place).

Two for the Money (2005)

Al Pacino and Matthew McConaughey starred in this sports drama thriller which filmed in Las Vegas, New York and Vancouver. BC Place and Vancouver International Airport were used Two for the Money.

Double Jeopardy (1999)

This crime drama mystery starring Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd filmed in multiple states including Washington, Louisiana and Mississippi and multiple cities around British Columbia including Vancouver, Prince George, Revelstoke and Richmond.

AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)

This movie shot around the world in places like France, Italy, Czech Republic and… BC Place!

Godzilla (2014)

The second Hollywood rendition of the monster character Godzilla is also the 30th overall film in the original Japanese franchise. The movie used BC Place as the FEMA Camp for disaster relief for the scenes at the end of the movie after the monster showdown.

Godzilla also filmed on Vancouver Island, using Nanaimo as San Francisco and other towns. The confirmed two sequels (2019 and 2020) are not being filmed in BC.

Fantastic Four (2005)

Jessica Alba and Chris Evans starred in this Marvel superhero movie which had a sequel in 2007 and then was rebooted in 2015.

 

Television

A number of staple Vancouver-filmed TV shows have also used BC Place including The X-Files, Smallvile, The Flash, Arrow, Fringe and The Good Doctor.
