Five Motorcycles Impounded By West Vancouver Police For Excessive Speeding

West Vancouver Police

This is another reminder for motorists to slow down. West Vancouver Police have impounded a group of five motorcycles after they were caught travelling at a speed of 135 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

The motorcycles were caught on April 28th, 2019 in the 7600 block of Hwy. 99, just North of Horseshoe Bay. A WVPD Traffic Section officer observed a group of motorcycles travelling Southbound at a high rate of speed.

The motorcycles were stopped by police and each operator was issued a violation ticket for Excessive Speed sec. 148(1) Motor Vehicle Act ($368.00 fine). In addition, all five of the motorcycles were impounded for seven days under provincial legislation.

“When drivers choose to speed, it puts everyone at risk” says Constable Kevin Goodmurphy of West Vancouver Police.
