It was a busy weekend for officers on the Sea-To-Sky Highway. Traffic Services officers impounded five vehicles on Saturday, including a 2018 McLaren 720S valued at approximately $462,000 that costs over $15,000 a year to insure.
According to Squamish RCMP, officers were conducting enforcement on Highway 99 near Porteau Cove when the McLaren was stopped for going 151 km/h in the posted 80 km/h speed zone.
After pulling over the “N” driver on the Sea-To-Sky Highway, officers discovered that the vehicle had been impounded previously for the same offence.
In total, police impounded four other vehicles on Saturday. This includes a motorcycle that was stopped for going 135 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.
The month of May is designated as High Risk Driving month in BC and officers are reminding motorists to slow down.
