The 21km hike can be split up into two days as it’s quite a difficult trek; however, you can also just hike one part at a time.

Start the journey on Hartley Lake Road which takes you through a lush forest past waterfalls and through the Bisaro Mountain Cave. As you continue on, travel through the magical Fairy Creek Meadows, climb up Windy Pass of Mount Fernie and then go down to Island Lake Lodge.

While it’s a nearly 11-hour drive from Vancouver—Fernie is a stunning place. Therefore, it should definitely be one of your stops if you’re planning a road trip across BC.

For more stunning BC destinations, hike to this super secret natural infinity pool just outside of Vancouver or take a dip in these hot springs that are only accessible by boat or plane.
