The word “Halcyon” refers to a period of time in the past where things were euphoric, but Halcyon Hot Springs is focused on the present.
Perched over Upper Arrow Lake near Revelstoke, British Columbia, the Halcyon Hot Springs is the centerpiece of a charming little resort with the beautiful Monashee Mountains serving as a backdrop.
The resort features a hot pool, a warm pool, a seasonal mineral pool, and a cold plunger. Minerals in the waters include lithium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, and strontium, and temperatures in the hot pool are about 40°C.
It’s open 365 days a year, with admission under $20 for a single swim and day passes between $30 and $40 (depending on age).
The hot springs are certainly the main attraction, but it isn’t the only attraction the resort has to offer.
Adding to the whole R&R theme is the resort’s spa, which features a variety of massages (deep tissue, rainforest, couples), facials, manicures, and pedicures.
When it’s time to take care of your stomach, there’s the Kingfisher Restaurant. (It’s a clever name because Halcyons are a sub-family in the Kingfisher bird family.)
The restaurant is a blend of fine-dining and local cuisine, with most of the food served sourced from within 100 miles of the area. Charcuterie, dessert, and wine menus are also available.
If you’d like to keep the halcyon days going, the resort is also equipped with cottages and chalets of various sizes in the area that are available for booking.
During winter, you can also go skiing at some of the nearby resorts, snowmobiling with the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club, guided dogsled tours, and ice fishing on Summit Lake.
All of this is to say: Keep calm and halcyon.
