DUBAI CHOCOLATE RECALL

The recall announcement came on September 12, regarding the brand Habibi Dubai. The chocolates were reportedly sold online to residents in British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario, and Quebec.

As mentioned above, the problem was because of undeclared allergens in the chocolate. Namely, soy and wheat. Depending on a person’s allergy severity, this can be an extremely serious health issue when ingested unknowingly. Moreover, the recall is classified as a Class 2 health risk. This means the product can result in short-term illness or pose a risk to those with allergies.

The recall is concerned with one type of Habibi Dubai chocolate, although they come in two different sizes. The Kunafa Pistachio Milk Chocolate, both the 200 g and 80 g sizes, are included in the recall. You can find their specific information below:

  • Kunafa Pistachio Milk Chocolate 200 g: UPC(s) 6 28774 43638 4; 721749620952
  • Kunafa Pistachio Milk Chocolate 80 g: UPC 6 28774 43634 6

The CFA advises consumers and retailers to “not use, sell, serve, or distribute the affected products.” If you own any of the affected products, it is best to either dispose of them or return them to the store where they were purchased.
