This flow line trail nestled on Vancouver Island isn’t your typical hiking trail – it’s overflowing with history.

The Sooke Flow Line Trail is a 44-km-long concrete aqueduct. The water line snakes throughout the lush forested area from Sooke Lake to the Humpback Reservoir near Mt. Wells Regional Park.

Construction first began in 1913, where the buried water main transported water to Victoria.

While it gave Victoria a vital source of water, it eventually was replaced between 1994 and 2007, due to leaking.

Despite its decommissioning—it’s a cool spot to go for a walk along the 1.5m diameter pipe while immersing yourself in nature.
