Translink officials are currently searching for answers as a pair of cougars were spotted along the Skytrain tracks in Port Moody on Friday morning.

CCTV footage caught the two cats casually roaming along the guideway inside the Inlet Station on the Evergreen Extension around 4:00 am.

The adult cougars reportedly walked through the station and traveled towards the next train stop at Moody Centre.

According to Translink, staff searched the station but were unable to find the animals before morning service began. In addition, officials remain unclear how the cougars accessed the station.

Translink adds that they will be inspecting fencing to ensure no holes or obvious entries exist for wildlife to enter the station (again).

While the incident involving cougars is a first, it’s ironically not unusual to see wildlife along the system. Translink works closely with Conservation Officers throughout the year and will continue to do so in case the cats return.
