Concord Pacific Unveils World’s Largest EV Charging Parkade in Burnaby

Concord Pacific has made a significant move towards a greener future. The company unveiled a groundbreaking electric vehicle (EV) charging parkade at the Hillside phase of the Concord Brentwood community.

This initiative highlights Concord Pacific’s commitment to sustainable living and innovative infrastructure. The parkade will boast an impressive 1,974 parking spaces, all equipped with 24/7 access to EV charging. Yes, you read that correctly.

Additionally, this robust electrical infrastructure is designed to handle simultaneous power access for all charging stations. This ensures that residents can easily charge their vehicles whenever they need.

Concord Continues to Pioneer Green Energy Solutions

Terry Hui, CEO of Concord Pacific Group and Concord Green Energy, emphasizes the importance of this development in the context of the ongoing shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.

“This milestone is in keeping with our longstanding commitment to sustainable future communities,” Hui stated. Concord Pacific’s extensive portfolio includes various renewable energy projects across five provinces, highlighting their leadership in the industry.

Mayor Mike Hurley of Burnaby also expressed enthusiasm for the parkade, stating: “Achieving carbon neutrality is a community-wide effort that includes residents and businesses in Burnaby. Making it easier for folks to drive electric vehicles… will help us cut down on carbon emissions and achieve our climate goals faster.”

Convenient and Accessible

The parkade features two cores beneath the four residential towers, with 1,039 charging spots. It is located under the West tower and 935 under the East. Furthermore, each core is equipped with two separate entrance points, facilitating efficient access for vehicles.

Moreover, positioned eight to nine stories below Lougheed Street, the parkade also benefits from proximity to essential transportation links. Residents enjoy quick access to the Brentwood SkyTrain station.  In addition, future phases of the community will complete a bicycle network connecting Burnaby and Vancouver.

Grace Quan, a resident and President of the Hillside East Strata Council, highlighted the parkade’s significance. “Having guaranteed quick charging available is an important feature for me and was a key factor in my decision to buy at Concord Brentwood,” she said.

Each charging station at the Hillside West tower core is individually monitored, ensuring accurate billing based solely on power consumed.

As the demand for EVs continues to rise, Concord Pacific’s investment in this charging infrastructure positions the Concord Brentwood community as a model for sustainable living.
