The Vancouver Canucks announced Thursday that they have signed defenceman Ben Hutton to a two-year extension.
The team’s press release revealed that the deal is worth $2.8 million per season.
The 23-year-old is one of the team’s brightest stars and has proved this season that he can be counted on.
Coach Willie Desjardin is excited to have him onboard.
“It’s exciting news. Ben has been a nice surprise since he got here. He’s a great young player and he’s playing real well”.
He debuted with the Canucks in the 2015-2016 season registering 25 points in 75 games. This year, the sophomore has two goals and two assists in 20 games.
As for Hutton, he could not have asked for more.
“It’s a dream come true to play in this league and to be part of this team. The Canucks wanting me for another two years is great”.
Hutton was originally drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round (147th overall) in 2012.
With a smile as big as his, Hutton will be a strong locker room presence for years to come.
