A driver in Burnaby could’ve ended up in the news in a very different way had this near-miss unfolded differently.
In the video, posted by Vancouver’s Worst Drivers, both the vehicle recording the footage and the minivan in front of it reach the 4-way intersection.
The minivan comes to a near-stop, waiting for an opportunity to make a left turn. The light goes from green to yellow, but the minivan does not budge.

When the light turns red, however, and the perpendicular lights turn green, the driver then hastily makes the left turn.
As the minivan turns, traffic in the incoming lane of the road it’s turning onto starts moving and there’s a near miss.

As speculated in the caption of the post, it’s likely the driver wasn’t paying full attention.
Thankfully for everyone on the road, there was no accident and nobody was hurt.
