Distracted driving is one of the bigger issues of the modern age, with smartphones as ingrained in our life as they are, and one Vancouver Police officer experienced this first-hand.
While working on a distracted driving campaign out on the road, a VPD Constable was struck by a distracted driver.
The Vancouver Police Department shared dashcam footage of the incident on their official Twitter account early Wednesday morning.
As the incident unfolds, a car is seen speeding past the driver with the dashcam. As the road bends, a police cruiser is revealed parked on the side of the road, behind another vehicle.
The distracted driver, however, does not react in time, despite there being space.

The incident took place on Monday, September 23rd. The VPD did not reveal whether or not the driver was fined, but it’s fairly safe to assume that they were.
Stay safe, people! And stay off your phone when you’re driving!
