A new class-action lawsuit has been filed in Canada against Honda due to alleged defects in its vehicles’ rear-glass system.

Honda Class-Action Lawsuit in Canada
The class-action lawsuit is specifically concerned with these vehicles (which are referred to as the “Subject Vehicles”): 2019-2023 Acura RDX, 2023-2024 Honda HR-V and 2023-2024 Honda CR-V.
The lawsuit was filed on July 17 by Quebec-based law firm Lex Group Inc., who alleges that Honda has “fail[ed] and neglect[ed] to disclose is that the Subject Vehicles’ shared and common design philosophies and quality-control approaches render each of the Subject Vehicles’ rear windows prone to unexpectedly shatter or break with no external impact, the whole dangerously and without warning, either while driving or while immobilized / parked, and sometimes when simply closing one of the vehicle’s doors.”

The lawsuit further notes that there are currently no safety recalls for any of the Subject Vehicles in order to fix the rear windows that may shatter. “Apparently, owners have experienced shattering even with replacement windows.”
The Next Steps
Eligible Honda owners could receive compensation if the lawsuit is approved and finalized.
The requirements to file a claim include being a Canadian resident; and having owned, purchased, leased, and/or leased a 2019-2023 Acura RDX; 2023-2024 Honda CR-V; or 2023-2024 Honda HR-V.
No actions are currently needed if you plan on making a claim. You can check out the class-action website in the meantime, though.
