Best Spots For Beach Volleyball In Vancouver

What’s another “V” letter word that goes with Vancouver? Volleyball! There are tons of places throughout Vancouver to setup a net and bump, set, spike! You can drop-in and join a recreational game or take a lesson to improve skills through a local community center.

Most of Vancouver’s outdoor volleyball courts are free to use on a first come first serve basis with no time limit so parks and fields make for great game areas. Reservations are required for league practices and tournaments.

Sandy beaches are the summertime hot spots for this fun social activity throughout the city. Many beaches with sand volleyball courts come with posts and free net rentals from lifeguards so all you need is some players and a ball. Other beaches areas have space for temporary volleyball nets where you bring your own poles, net and ball.

English Bay Beach

English Bay Beach also known as First Beach is Downtown Vancouver’s most populated beach area and features 2 volleyball courts.


Jericho Beach

Jericho Beach offers 2 volleyball spaces located north of Jericho Park between Wallace St. & Discovery St. at the west end of Point Grey Rd.


Locarno Beach

Locarno Beach complements Jericho Beach with 6 volleyball courts and is located on the west side of Jericho Park.

Kitsilano Beach

Kits runs along the Seawall and features 7 permanent volleyball courts from May to September.  Located on Cornwall Avenue at the end of Yew St.’s north end.


Spanish Banks

Spanish Banks offers the most volleyball areas with 10 permanent courts plus 10 spaces in the East and 8 permanent courts plus 10 spaces in the West.


Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach offers 1 volleyball space as a less populated downtown beach located on Beach Avenue between Bute St. & Thurlow St.


Shaughnessy Street

Park Site on Shaughnessy Street includes a sandy beach area that features 6 permanent volleyball courts in the Marpole neighbourhood at 9250 Shaughnessy Street.

Westminster Pier Park

Westminster Pier Park is a riverfront park-beach mix on equal parts land and water – built on a pier as its name suggests.  2 volleyball courts are featured on Timber Wharf in the park’s east side, located in New Westminster.


Centennial Beach

Centennial Beach is a Lower Mainland gem and has miles of sandy beach for volleyball. Located at Boundary Bay in Tsawwassen.


White Rock Beach

White Rock East Beach has ample sand for beach volleyball and is the perfect spot for a friendly game against neighbouring Americans from Blaine, Washington.

Crescent Beach

Crescent Beach is South Surrey’s famous summer destination with the best sand for beach volleyball at the end of Sullivan Street.
