Vancouver is set to have a very hot summer this year and hanging out at the beach is just a natural thing to do. To make it easier for residents to access our local beaches, a new beach express bus service might be launched in Vancouver.
The motion, put forward by commissioner John Irwin, asks City Council to work with TransLink to “explore the feasibility of providing express or direct bus” services.

Such a beach express bus service would also follow the City of Vancouver’s climate emergency report, which calls for safe and convenient active transportation and transit by 2030.
The buses would operate from the VCC/Clark SkyTrain station to Vancouver’s western beaches (Jericho, Locarno, and Spanish banks) during the summer months (July and August).
This motion was submitted at the Regular Board meeting held on June 10th and the Vancouver Park Board is set to vote on it tonight.
Keep those fingers crossed!
