Vancouver Island Police Release Prisoner By Mistake

Vancouver Island Police are currently on the search for a prisoner who was mistakenly released from jail this past weekend.

According to Saanich Police, 30-year old Grant Christopher Barker, was permitted to leave the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre, by accident on Sunday.

BARKER, a 30 year old male from the Victoria area is believed to still be in the greater Victoria area. BARKER is a First Nations male approximately 5’6″, 180 lbs with Black hair and some facial hair. BARKER was last seen wearing a black zip up hooded sweater, black shorts and white and black running shoes.

Details of how BARKER was able to leave the institution are not being released at this time as the investigation is currently ongoing.

On September 07, 2015 charges of Escape Lawful Custody and Identity Fraud were sworn before a Judicial Justice of the Peace and a warrant of arrest was issued for Grant Christopher BARKER.
