If you were planning on travelling across the Pattullo Bridge, you’ll need to add a detour to your trip for a few days. Due to construction, the bridge will be closed for four nights to northbound traffic.
CLOSURES
The closures are due to the Pattullo Bridge’s replacement bridge. Currently, construction is underway for a new four-lane, toll-free bridge that is meant to improve everyone’s travel from New Westminster to Surrey, and vice-versa.
Named the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project, these closures are to assure the safe installment of an expansion joint connecting the new bridge deck to Surrey’s bridge approach. There will be construction equipment positioned near both northbound lanes on the existing Pattullo Bridge.

Thus, the Pattullo Bridge will be closed to northbound vehicle traffic for four nights due to this ongoing construction. Southbound traffic will not be affected. Pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to cross in both directions.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The closures will take place over four nights. This includes:
- Thursday, June 26: 9:00pm to 5:00am
- Friday, June 27: 9:00pm to 5:00am
- Wednesday, July 2: 9:00pm to 5:00am
- Thursday, July 3: 9:00pm to 5:00am
For alternative routes, drivers are being instructed to use either the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges. If you’re using transit, the N19 night bus is also being rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges. This is happening between New Westminster and Scott Road stations.

There will be plenty of signage near the Pattullo bridge to indicate changes in traffic, as well as traffic control personnel being on-site. Drivers should plan for up to an additional 30 minutes of travel time.
