The Canadian Government is constantly trying to cut back in their federal budget, and the latest move towards savings is to get rid of the commonly overlooked Canadian penny. Finance Minister Jim Flaherty discovered that it’s actually costing more to produce these one cent copper coins than what they’re really worth and will save the government 11 million! So it’s been decided that it’s time to let the copper coin become a part of history.
