If there’s one thing all Metro Vancouverites can agree on, it’s that gas prices are way too high. Even if you drive something that’s fairly good on fuel, you’ve still felt the effects of the nearly $2 per litre prices. And let’s not even mention if you drive a real gas-guzzler.

With Prime Minister Mark Carney’s cuts on the consumer carbon tax, everyone across Canada is feeling the gradual decline of today’s tremendous fuel costs. But things are about to get even cheaper if the price predictor website GasWizard is correct.

GAS PRICES’ LOWEST COST SINCE 2021

Not since the COVID-19 pandemic has Vancouver seen prices drop to this level. Yet, that was when nobody was on the road. Today is much different as Metro Vancouver residents are back to business as usual. The roads are full, and traffic is always in full-swing.

GasWizard reports that April 16 will see a drop of 6¢, falling to a mind-blowing 154.9 for regular gas. If you’re in the Richmond area, people on GasBuddy note that a number of Chevrons have prices as low as 141.9!

There’s no telling how long this will last, unfortunately. The general consensus amongst analysts seems to be that gas will stay low for the next coming weeks, but it’s always best to strike while the iron is hot. To optimize your gas costs, follow a few of these tips.

It’s always best to fill up later in the day. Anytime after 6 p.m. is optimal as prices generally drop in the evenings. Additionally, try to wait for the weekend to save even more on the litre. You can also be proactive in your gas hunt by using websites such as GasWizard and GasBuddy to check what the best prices will be and currently are.

Enjoy the low gas prices while you can! Now is the best time to fill up and hit the road, especially with the long weekend coming up.
