With the long weekend coming up, it’s the perfect time to get out and have that real movie theatre experience. You know: getting extra buttery popcorn, eating a load of snacks, and having to purchase inflating ticket prices. That last one might not be so nice, so luckily Cineplex is offering $3.99 movies this April. Movie-goers can have that true Cineplex experience at an affordable price.
All of this is done through Cineplex’s Family Favourites program. These films are meant for everybody, and are especially good for families. The showings are occasionally swapped out for different ones and are also dependent on which location you go to, but these are the two listed on their website for April.
CINEPLEX’S FAMILY FAVOURITE MOVIES
Hop (Saturday, April 19)

This 2011 animated film is perfect for Easter. Somewhere beneath Easter Island is a manufacturing plant where all the world’s Easter candy is made. Here, the titular bunny is preparing to pass his title down to his son E.B. The only problem is that E.B. would rather be a drummer instead of the Easter Bunny, and runs away to Los Angeles.
The Lorax (Saturday, April 26)

The Lorax is a 2012 animated musical, and a modern retelling of the classic Dr. Seuss tale. The movie stars twelve-year-old Ted who lives in the perpetually plastic town of Thneedville. In an attempt to win over his crush Audrey, Ted tries to find a truffula tree, but ends up finding the Once-ler instead. He learns the story of the Lorax and how Thneedville came to be.
The movies run only on Saturdays, and cost $3.99 for CineClub members with their booking fee waived. Prices are $4.99 for Scene+ members ($3.99 + $1.00 online booking fee), and cost $5.49 for all other customers ($3.99 + $1.50 online booking fee), plus tax.
If you’re a CineClub member, this is the optimal time to watch a movie for cheap with family or friends. And even if you’re not part of Cineplex’s membership, these are still a fraction of their usual price, so grab some tickets while you can!
