East Van's What's Up? Hot Dog! Launches Vegan Wing Nights

After a successful first run, a beloved East Van hot dog spot will hold weekly vegan wing nights.

Usually known for their meaty creations, What’s Up? Hot Dog! will offer delicious, flesh-free fare every Monday from 6pm until closing. The restaurant charges $5 for a pound of its tasty ‘Fricken Wings.’

Whether you make it down for vegan wing night or at any other time, What’s Up? Hot Dog! is an awesome place to hang out. Equal parts bar and hot dog joint, the place blasts good tunes and boasts a pair of sweet pinball machines. Projected on the wall behind the bar are Netflix gems such as episodes of the He-Man cartoon or 1994’s Airheads.

In this unbeatable atmosphere, you can enjoy some epic hot dogs (loaded with mac ‘n’ cheese, anyone?) as well as a refreshing brew or a quirkily named cocktail (e.g. Rad Jockstrap). If you’ve got room for a dessert, try a deep-fried pop tart with ice cream. See the menu here.

Follow the establishment on Instagram for excellent sandwich-board art and updates on what’s up at What’s Up? Hot Dog!

What’s Up? Hot Dog! is also the home bar of the East Van Baseball League — well worth checking out a game if you get the chance. Get your vegan wing or hot dog fix at 2481 East Hastings Street, Vancouver.
