VIDEO: Killer Whales Swim Past Stanley Park

A pod of killer whales swam past Stanley Park and under the Lions Gate Bridge last week, causing quite the “waves” on social networks.  The Vancouver Aquarium confirmed they were transient killer whales, and as many as eight of them swimming and searching for food.

This sighting makes it the fourth straight year in a row whales have shown face in the waters around Metro Vancouver. Killer whales were spotted near Jericho Beach in 2012 and in the harbour in 2011. In 2010, a grey whale swam into False Creek. Two whales also washed up dead recently. The first was at White Rock Beach in 2011, and the second tragedy was earlier this year.
