Vegetarian-Friendly Restaurant ‘Meet’ Opens In Gastown

MeetGastown

The team behind the popular vegetarian restaurant ‘Meet on Main’ have opened up a sister location, ‘Meet in Gastown.’

The new restaurant is taking over the former Japanese restaurant Shirakawa, located at the historic 12 Water Street building.

After a three-month renovation, the space has transformed into an eclectic and vibrant spot for people to meet up and enjoy some delicious plant-based eats.

Meet is known for their innovative vegan and vegetarian dishes. The menu at the Gastown location is much like the Main Street location—serving up meat-free, dairy-free and gluten-free foods that will be sure to satisfy your cravings. The ingredients are all plant-based and the food is all comfort—offering up burgers, fries, salads and bowls.

They launched last week on Feb. 15th and will be open for dinner at 5pm every night. This is a “soft launch” of the restaurant and they will be increasing their hours in the coming weeks.

The menu at Meet on Main—includes items such as Not-Cho’ Average Nacho Fries (house fries with cheesy vegan queso sauce, pickled jalapeno peppers and pico de gallo), Noodle-y Thai bowl (rice noodles, shredded cabbage and carrots, bean sprouts, marinated tofu and almond Thai sauce), and the Double Bacon Cheese Burger (coconut bacon, crispy seitan bacon, bean sprouts, chao cheese and queso).

The bar has a menu of craft cocktails, with local and gluten-free beers on tap. Be sure to try their refreshing kombucha drink!
