Firework season officially returns to the 604 with Halloween just around the corner, which will soon be followed by Diwali – the Sikh celebration of light. Every other night I usually hear bottle rockets and air bombs go off so I thought I’d share permit info.
Although most don’t, it’s important to get a permit to the light up the skies and purchase fireworks in Vancouver.
To get a permit, visit the cities website or call them at 604-873-7583. Permits are free but to apply, you must be 19 and provide valid I.D. You must also successfully complete a fireworks safety test. The city states fireworks may only be purchased from October 25th to 31st. Further, fireworks may only be used on the 31st.
Permits are available anytime throughout the year.
A couple city’s in the 604 have recently banned fireworks completely. If you live outside Vancouver, check your city’s website to find out their specific permit info. Safety first!
