Nothing like kickflipp’n before class for the ladies!
Last summer, UBC decided to expand its campus life by taking initiative as the first university in North America to add a skatepark on campus at the corner of Thunderbird Blvd and the Health Sciences Mall. The project came to life as a pro-active effort to accommodate the growing demand for recreational activity specifically catering to those who skateboard, BMX and in-line skate. The project cost was approximately half a million dollars but was co-founded by the University Neighbourhoods Association (UNA) which helped save tuition fees! The skatepark aims serve the needs of campus residents, and members of the community situated around UBC.
