A large selection of farmers markets are now open across metro Vancouver for the summer season. Each offers up fresh produce and great prices.
All summer | Mountain Music Series
The fourth annual Mountain Music Series takes place every Friday night from June 9th to Friday, September 22nd, 2017. This year’s line-up offers a variety of genres ranging from Classic Rock, European Folk, Indie Soul, Modern-Acoustic, R&B and World Fusion.
All summer | Night Markets
The Illumination Night Market, Richmond Night Market, and North Vancouver Shipyards Night Market are all now open. In addition, Fridays on Front, a brand new weekly night market experience in Downtown New West is now open. Fridays on Front will run every Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for eight consecutive weeks on the 600-block of Front Street.
All summer | Free Outdoor Yoga At Kits Beach + Riley Park

The daily free yoga classes are organized by Mat Collective. Not to mention, they will feature 1-3 classes each day with a variety of different levels.

Every Thursday evening, enjoy watching a movie in the beautiful outdoors at the refurbished North Point at Canada Place. Movies being screened include Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom, Trolls, and Wayne’s World.

Grab some lawn chairs, blankets, snacks, your best friends or date, and head out to this year’s Stanley Park outdoor movies. The films are shown every Tuesday night at dusk (weather permitting) at the beautiful and scenic Second Beach in Stanley Park.
August 1-11 | Vancouver Bach Festival 2017
Early Music Vancouver presents the return of the Vancouver Bach Festival. It takes place in the heart of the city at Christ Church Cathedral. Inspired by the 500th Anniversary of Martin Luther’s Protestant Reformation, this year’s festival celebrates music’s supreme ability to convert, transform, and persuade.
August 3 – 6 | Rockin’ River Country Music Festival 2017

The Rockin’ River Country Music Festival returns to Meritt this BC Day long weekend from Thursday, August 3rd – Sunday, August 6th, 2017. Rockin River is a BC family-owned and operated country music festival that attracts country music fans from across Canada. Over the years, the Rockin’ River stage has been plenty of big names perform. They include Rascal Flats, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, Blue Rodeo, and many more.
August 4 – 6 | AniRevo Vancouver 2017
AniRevo 2017 celebrates and partakes in cultural exchange over three fun-filled days of activities, exhibits, panels, and performances. These include art, animation, comics, contests, costuming, cultural displays, dance, gaming, musical performances, and much more.

Canada is set to wrap up the 2017 Honda Celebration of Light. Expect a grand show from the hosts and even larger crowds in the area.
August 5 | Whistler Red Bull 400M Race 2017

Red Bull 400 comes to Whistler on Saturday, August 5th, 2017. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the event will conclude in the afternoon at 5:00 p.m. Testing both speed and endurance, this race challenges runners with 400 metres on a 37 degree incline from the bottom of a ski jump, straight to the top.
August 5 | Adventure Hunt Vancouver 2017
From 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., you’ll have the opportunity to adventure all over Vancouver and the surrounding areas. Throughout the day you will be completing epic challenges to earn clues that will lead you and your teammate to buried treasure. August 5 | VSDF Vancouver Street Dance Festival 2017
The VSDF Vancouver Street Dance Festival takes to the streets on Saturday, August 5th, 2017. Running from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., an assortment of unique streetdance styles will be on display at Robson Square.
August 5 | International Sailor Moon Day Vancouver 2017

People are encouraged to show their Sailor Moon pride at the event and also on social media. Use the hashtag #ISMD or #Internationalsailormoonday throughout the entire day.
August 6 – 27 | FraserFEST 2017
FraserFEST 2017 celebrates our watersheds with a series of river adventures and wild salmon feasts in communities along the Fraser River. The festival runs from Sunday, August 6th – Sunday, August 27th, 2017. Participants learn about the Fraser’s history, culture, the issues threatening its health, solutions for change, as well as how to take action.
August 6 | Sunset Beach Festival 2017
This event brings together thousands of individuals in the LGBTQ2+ community and their allies for a day of fun-filled festivities. Not to mention, there is a diverse entertainment lineup at the main stage. You can explore the Vendor Village, visit the Family Fun Zone and the brand new Community Zone.
August 7 – 12 | Vancouver Mural Festival 2017

At mural fest, both local and international artists come together to transform Vancouver’s surrounding urban landscape into a brightly painted canvas. The 2017 festival will run from August 7-12. It kicked off on June 24th with a Strathcona street party and a mural unveiling of summer art projects.
August 9 | Picnic At The Pier 2017
A table of 300 people will converge on White Rock’s pier. The fundraiser event is for the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation. Guests will enjoy dinner, drinks and live entertainment at one of metro Vancouver’s most scenic locations. Each guest will receive a glass of champagne upon arrival and two free drink tickets. Tickets are on sale for $150.
August 10 | Vancouver Queer Music Festival
The 29th annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival (VQFF) takes place this summer from Thursday, August 10th – Wednesday, August 20th, 2017 at various theatres. The Festival hosts performances, workshops, panel discussions, parties and more, facilitating a unique community space for 11 days each August.
August 10 | Mixology Night On The Pier 2017
Mixology Night On The Pier comes to West Vancouver on Thursday, August 10th, 2017. The evening will start at 7:30 p.m. and goes until 9:30 p.m. Taking place at Ambleside Pier, enjoy culinary delights from Cocktails and Canapes and Memphis Blues.

This is a fun way to meet your neighbours, listen to local musicians, and get immersed into the community. Funded by the West End BIA, we’ll have a jumbo Jenga set, Hex-a-pong (a six-person ping pong table), and a great selection of dozens of games. August 11 | Coquitlam Summer Concert Series 2017
The City of Coquitlam kicked off its inaugural free Summer Concert Series on Friday, July 14th, 2017. Each concert will take place from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Guests can bring their own picnic or enjoy the on-site food trucks. The next concert is taking place on Friday, August 11th.

Canadian television icon George Stroumboulopoulos and renowned scientist Bill Nye come to the Orpheum Theatre on Friday, August 11th, 2017. Asides from being a scientist, Nye is a engineer, comedian, author, and inventor. George Stroumboulopoulos is a six-time Gemini Award and Canadian Screen Award winner.

Throughout July and August, Newton Days will be taking over the Newton Grove on Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Get out, enjoy the weather, enjoy the activities, and get to know your neighborhood. Admission is free.
August 12 | Truck Stop Concert Series 2017
A soul and funk themed bill led by the mighty Lee Fields & The Expressions wraps up the festival for 2017.
August 12 | Kaleidoscope Arts Festival 2017
Free to the public, the festival runs from 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. and offers a full slate of live entertainment. Not to mention, there will be plenty of activities for children, including arts, crafts, and performances that will pique the imagination. Bif Naked will headline on the Plaza Stage.
August 12 | Burnaby Blues + Root Festival

For the last 18 years, the annual Burnaby Blues + Roots Festival has been a highlight of the outdoor concert season. Another lineup of world-class musicians, including headliner Trombone Shorty will look to delight the Burnaby crowd.

The family-friendly community celebration will take place in North Vancouver once again. There will also be live music, DJs, food trucks, artisans, outdoor patios, beverage garden, vendors, and more.

The annual aviation festival provides spectators an opportunity to watch one of the finest aerobatic performances in the world.
August 12 – 13 | Bees and Blueberries Festival 2017
Now in its sixth year, the event is set to include over 2,000 attendees. People will be coming from across the Ridge Meadows and Tri-City areas. This will be a unique local event that brings together a community with the shared value of bee wellness and charity.
August 12- 13 | Richmond Maritime Festival 2017

The festival is free to the public and runs from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on the Saturday and 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on the Sunday. This year’s festival is shaping up to be the biggest with it being Canada’s 150th birthday. It will feature a wooden boat festival within the site, roving characters, visual artists, puppets, storytellers and more.
August 13 | Vancouver Pakistan Festival 2017
From 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., a sea of green and white will take over Jack Poole Plaza. The festival celebrates the culture, fashion, music, and cuisine of Pakistan. Furthermore, admission is free and is open to everyone.

The legendary band will hit BC Place this Thursday, August 14th, 2017.
August 16 | Richmond Yoga In The Park 2017
Yogis of all ages are welcomed to join this fun evening. Thompson Community Centre is easily accessible by transit and offers plenty of parking space. It goes from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and the show begins at 9:30 p.m. Pretty Girls Like Trap Music is the long-awaited follow-up to 2 Chainz’s 2013 full-length solo effort, B.O.A.T.S. II: ME TIME.

Multiple activities will take over Columbia Street as New Westminster celebrates pride. The day will have numerous stages, a children’s area, booths and vendors, five outdoor extended patios, a Drag Show stage, food trucks and more.

August 21 | Vancouver Solar Eclipse 2017
What makes this even more fascinating is that it will mark the first time in in 99 years that a total solar eclipse crossed the entire continental USA and here in Vancouver. Equally important, Vancouver will enjoy 86% totality. To help you celebrate, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre is celebrating with a big community viewing party.
August 24 | Diner En Blanc
For the first time in North America, there will be not one, but two secret locations to dine at in Vancouver this Summer. The popular event gathers Vancouverites to picnic in a specific location that is not revealed until the day of. The dress code, of course, is to wear white from head to toe.
August 26 | Vancouver Zombiewalk 2017

The event is presented by Vancouver Improv Anywhere and encourages the human population to play dead – literally. Rip those clothes, dab on that fake blood and create the scariest, wounded face possible. You’ll fit right in with the crowd. The event will have all zombie-enthusiasts begin at the south side of the Vancouver Art Gallery at 3:00 p.m.
August 27 | Pet-A-Palooza Vancouver 2017
From 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., a wide variety of activities will take place at this free, kid-friendly event. There will be Running Of The Bulls (French and English bulldog races), Wiener dog races, Puppy stampede, and much more. Admission is free.

American hip-hop recording artist Jidenna performs on his Long Live the Chief Tour. Doors at Venue open at 8:00 p.m.
