The PNE Is Now Accepting Applications For 2013/14 Youth Council

The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) is now accepting applications for its 2013/2014 PNE Youth Council, an exciting leadership opportunity that enables youth to learn about the inner workings of a successful business while developing a voice in the community.

“Now in its fourth year, the Youth Council has proven to be a great success – not only for the teenagers who participate, but also for our PNE staff who now have a unique opportunity to gain insight from youth on youth matters and programming,” says PNE President and CEO Michael McDaniel. “The Youth Council has consistently brought out a group of enthusiastic and dedicated teenagers, each seeking to make a difference in the community, and it is our hope that the Council will foster a strong relationship between youth and the PNE for generations to come.”

Motivated senior high school students (grades 10 to 12, as of September 2013) who are interested in developing valuable leadership skills, meeting with business leaders from the PNE and wider community, and making a positive change in their community, are encouraged to submit an application. Successful applicants will be those with some previous volunteer experience, who enjoy working with others, are highly creative, and demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

The PNE Youth Council meets on a monthly basis, with participants committing to a one-year term. The deadline for applications is Friday, April 26, 2013. Interviews will be conducted in early June for shortlisted applicants. For applications and more information visit www.pne.ca/youth.
