The Central City rink, formerly known as Stardust, will be having one final skate this month as a farewell.
The final skate will happen Saturday June 23rd, from 8-11PM. Tickets will be available at the door on a first come, first serve basis. People will be able to skate to top 40 hits, a live DJ and disco lights.
Tickets are $7 plus GST for adults and kids 12 and under are $6 each. Roller skate (quad) rentals are $3, and inline skate (hockey) rentals are $4.
A website advisory states that the Central City Arena will be closing as of June 25th.
“We are in the process of trying to secure a new Cloverdale location, and hope to re-open November 2018.”
The iconic arena was originally Stardust roller rink up until 2005, when it shut down. Up until that point, it was one of the most iconic places in the city, especially during the 90s.
The facility was revamped and taken over by Central City Arena in 2010.
The building housing the former Stardust and Central City Arena will be demolished to make way for a 50 story education centre to take its place.
