According to Environment Canada, the smoke that has had a stranglehold on Metro Vancouver over the past few weeks will soon be dissapear.
The better air quality is due to a decrease in air temperature in the region. Thursday saw much better conditions in many areas and a lot of smoke was noticeably gone by Friday morning.

It’s a huge relief to see clearer conditions and the air quality improving vastly in the past 36 hours.
The entire Metro Vancouver region was at “Very High” (10+) during the day on Thursday according to the BC Air Quality Index. Most areas are now showing “Low” risk (3), which is a huge difference.

Throughout Saturday and Sunday, there’s a 60 % chance of showers, with highs of 19°C expected.

Recent Air Quality Readings
Last week, readings of a global air quality index of major world cities gave a chilling comparison of how bad Metro Vancouver’s air was on a global scale. It gave the most accurate indication of pollution in real-time, at street level, and BC’s levels were far higher than Beijing, and higher than Delhi.
What’s more, an App called Sh**t! I Smoke, shows a grim comparison of just how poor the local air is. The app converts levels of air pollution in cities into how many cigarettes you would need to smoke in order to reach the same level.
Unfortunately, the Metro Vancouver readings were not inspiring. While the region isn’t in the heart of the wildfires, the smog has been extremely bad. As such, readings in the area were equivalent to smoking 6, 7, 8 or even more cigarettes!
