While he is often spotted in the streets of his hometown Vancouver, Ryan Reynolds is best known for shooting his Deadpool franchise in the city.
Now, the hollywood favourite is setting his sights on a new franchise – the highly anticipated Pikachu movie.
The star will play Detective Pikachu, a pint-sized anime crime-solver that dons an old-school detective hat and sets forth to save the day. As the first live-action Pokémon movie in the franchise’s 21-year history, it promises to draw crowds. What’s more, the Pokemon-Go craze swept the world by storm last year, and many people are still addicted to the game.

Ryan Reynolds To Tackle The Pikachu Character
The title “Detective Pikachu” comes from the “Great Detective Pikachu” videogame released last year. Evidently, this Pikachu has a much deeper voice than Reynolds. As a result, it will be interesting to see what angle his interpretation of the character will be.
While there’s no official release dates, sources speculate it will open sometime in January of 2019.
Before that, Reynold’s second instalment of the Deadpool franchise hits theatres June 1st, 2018.
