Metro Vancouver will celebrate Remembrance Day on Wednesday, November 11. Each municipality has it’s own plans and potential road closures. Read below to plan ahead.
Burnaby
Road closures will be in effect along parade routes:
- Within a 1 block radius of 4440 Hastings Street (near Safeway) from 10:00am – 12:00pm.
- Within a 1 block radius of Imperial Street and Nelson Avenue from 10:00am – 12:00pm
Delta
North Delta
- Official Remembrance Day ceremony will take place at the The Kennedy House Seniors’ Society, traffic will not be affected.
South Delta
- From 9:45am to 9:45am, roads will be closed along the parade which begins outside the Legion at 4896 Delta St, and travel up Delta street to Memorial Park at 47 Ave.
Langley
Aldergrove Legion
- Road closures will be in effect along the parade route: 10:40am parade begins from Yale Road onto 268 Street, then heads west on Fraser Highway to the Aldergrove Legion at 26607 Fraser Highway.
Langley Legion
- Road closures will be in effect along the parade route beginning at 10:25am Parade – Procession leaves 20570 – 56 Avenue, heads down the laneway, then south on 206 Street to Douglas Crescent, to the cenotaph at Douglas Park.
Maple Ridge
- Short road closures will be in effect along the parade route which starts from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #88 Headquarters at Brown Avenue and 224 Street and travels south to Haney Place.
New West
Royal Avenue will be closed from McBride Boulevard to Eighth Street between 7:00 am and 1:00 pm. No traffic will be able to access Royal Avenue or the Pattullo Bridge from Royal Avenue between these hours, including residents.
All trucks wishing to access the Pattullo Bridge will be diverted to the Port Mann Bridge via Front Street from Stewardson Way and Royal Avenue.
Pitt Meadows.
Official Remembrance Day ceremony will take place at Spirit Square Cenotaph at 12007 Harris Road, traffic will not be affected.
Port Coquitlam
Road closures will be in effect along the parade route beginning at 10:00 a.m. – Parade from Como Lake Middle School along Winslow Avenue to the Cenotaph on Veterans Way.
Following the service, the parade will travel from Cenotaph to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 263 (1025 Ridgeway Avenue) at Nelson and Ridgeway.
Richmond
The following streets will be closed and traffic patterns will be changed between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Granville Avenue will be closed in both directions from Minoru Boulevard to Buswell Street.
- No. 3 Road will be closed in both directions from Park Road to Bennett Road.
Surrey
Official Remembrance Day ceremony will take place within the Surrey Centre Cemetery from noon – 3pm, traffic will not be affected.
Vancouver
Traffic will be affected along the parade route:
- The main parade will march Route 2, marching west along Hastings past the reviewing stand between Homer and Richards, turning right at Richards, east on Cordova, then south on Cambie.
- The veterans section of the parade will march Route 1, marching west along Hastings Street past the reviewing stand and disperse. Please see the map below.
North Vancouver
Ceremonies will take place at Victoria Park Cenotaph, Lynn Valley Village, and Cates Park. Traffic will not be affected.
West Vancouver
Official ceremony will take place at Memorial Arch in Memorial Park. Roads will be closed on Marine Drive between 19th Street and 20th Street from 9:00am – 12:00pm
White Rock
Road closures will be in effect from 9:00am to noon for the parade. Parade begins on Jonhston and Roper heading southbound to Pacific Ave, from Pacific to Fir, and Fur to Buena Vista Ave, and Buena Vista Ave to Best Street.
Roads will open as the parade passes.
