Vancouver’s nightlife calendar continues to heat up this spring.
Later this month, Canadian R&B and hip hop artist Roy Woods will make a special appearance at Heist Vancouver, bringing a piece of the OVO Sound universe to the heart of Yaletown.
The Brampton-born artist will host the night on March 22, giving fans the chance to see one of Canada’s most recognizable voices in modern R&B inside one of the city’s newest nightlife venues.
A key artist from Drake’s OVO Sound roster
Roy Woods first emerged in 2015 after signing to OVO Sound, the record label founded by Drake.
Soon after, Drake premiered Woods’ track Drama during the very first episode of OVO Sound Radio. The song quickly introduced listeners to Woods’ atmospheric sound, blending moody R&B with hip hop influences.
His debut EP Exis followed shortly after and helped establish him as one of the early breakout artists from the OVO label.
Since then, Woods has released multiple projects that helped define the darker, melodic style often associated with Toronto’s music scene. His debut album Waking at Dawn arrived in 2016 and charted in both Canada and the United States.
He followed that with Say Less in 2017, which produced several fan favourites and expanded his international audience.
Over the years, Woods has continued releasing singles and collaborative projects while evolving his sound. His most recent album, Mixed Emotions, arrived in 2023 and featured guest appearances from artists including Coi Leray, Jada Kingdom, and Vory.
A night inside one of Vancouver’s newest nightlife venues
Roy Woods will make his appearance at Heist Vancouver, a newly opened nightlife venue located in Yaletown.
The club occupies the former Bar None space and has quickly gained attention for its bold design, immersive lighting, and high-energy atmosphere. Since opening earlier this year, Heist has positioned itself as a destination for international DJs, touring artists, and celebrity appearances.
Unlike a traditional concert, the March 22 event will feature Woods hosting the night and celebrating with fans inside the club environment.
That format has become increasingly popular across major nightlife markets, where artists often appear for special events while DJs carry the energy of the evening.
For fans of OVO Sound and Toronto’s R&B scene, the night offers a chance to see Roy Woods up close in a more intimate setting than a traditional concert venue.
