14 Movies Filming in Vancouver This March

In February, Vancouver saw re-shoots for Deadpool 2 starring Ryan Reynolds and production wrap up for the 8th and 9th Aurora Teagarden TV movies starring Candance Cameron Bure.

This March there are 14 dynamic movies scheduled to shoot in Hollywood North including 8 feature films and 6 TV movies:

Bad Times at the El Royale

Bad Times at the El Royale added Dakota Johnson and Nick Offerman to the cast which already included Chris Hemsworth, Jeff Bridges, Cailee Spaeny and Cynthia Erivo. The movie is started filming in town in January and is scheduled to wrap up by April 6.

Director Drew Goddard made his debut in 2012 with The Cabin in the Woods which also starred Chris Hemsworth. He is also known for being an Executive Producer in 2015’s space movie The Martian starring Matt Damon.

Dakota Johnson is no stranger to Vancouver having filmed the 50 Shades trilogy here over the last few years.

Spontaneous

21-year-old Australian actress and 13 Reasons Why star Katherine Langford plays the female lead in Spontaneous, a sci-fi fantasy film based on the young adult novel of the same name by Aaron Starmer. Filming wraps up on  March 2.

Bermuda Triangle

Originally slated to start in February, this untitled Bermuda Triangle movie is attached to Sam Esmail, the creator of Mr. Robot and newly wed to Emmy Rossum (Shameless). Skydance is the studio behind the film which has a massive facility in Surrey. Filming beings March 19.

The Predator

The sixth movie in the Predator series already brought us UFO’s, tanks and Olivia Munn. The blockbuster is back in town for additional photography shoots ahead of its September 14, 2018 release date. One of the star-studded cast members is Vancouver-born and Langley-raised Jacob Tremblay who had a breakout performance in Room with Brie Larson. He took his co-star Olivia Munn boating on the Fraser and went on to co-star with Julia Roberts in Wonder which also filmed locally.

The additional photography shoots are scheduled from March 12 to 29.

Toronto’s David Hackl known for directing Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV is taking on this Canadian action thriller movie. It’s scheduled to shoot from March 18 to April 13

The Perfection

Richard Shepard is directing The Perfection – “a cello prodigy’s pursuit for perfection takes a sinister turn” (IMDb) starring Allison Williams from Get Out and HBO’s Girls. The movie started filming in Vancouver on Valentine’s Day and wraps up on March 16. Vancouver’s Aliana Huffman also stars.

Other movies filming around town include All My Tomorrows from March 13 to May 10 and The Kimberlite Process starring Sir Ben Kingsley from March 19. Triple Frontier starring Mark Wahlberg and Charlie Hunnam is reportedly splitting filming between Hawaii and Vancouver starting this March as well.

TV Movies

The Bad Seed until March 30

Rob Lowe stars and directs Lifetime’s remake of horror film The Bad Seed. Also stars Mckenna Grace who played Young Emma in the Vancouver-filmed ABC fantasy series Once Upon a Time which is in the middle of its 7th and final season.
