Jacob Tremblay racked up 8 awards and over another dozen nominations for his breakthrough performance in the 2015 independent drama film Room which also starred Brie Larson. The Vancouver-born and Langley-raised actor has worked on 8 films since then including the locally filmed and highly anticipated sci-fi action revival Predator movie. The production has brought a UFO crash and an armoured personnel carrier to sets in New Westminster. It’s slated for release in 2018.
The 10-year-old’s quick rise to success makes his first acting gigs on TV shows like Vancouver-filmed Motive or film debut in The Smurfs 2 back in 2013 seem like ages ago. Since then he’s worked with the likes of Kate Bosworth, Naomi Watts, Julia Roberts, Olivia Munn and more. As a little big star in his own right, he’s met legends like Lady Gaga, Ryan Seacrest, Leonardo Dicaprio, Johnny Depp and Sidney Crosby to name a few. The self-proclaimed Lego enthusiast and Star Wars fanatic seems take fame on with ease and probably with some guidance by his parents who also admin and monitor his social media.
