The Last Splash; Splashdown Park To Open One Last Time

Splashdown Park - Big Splash

After serving metro Vancouver for 33 years, Splashdown Park is preparing to open gates for one last season on Saturday, June 4th.

The park caught thousands of locals off guard when they made their closure announcement last month, revealing their lease is up at the end of summer and there are currently no plans to relocate.

The water park equipped with 13 water slides has been a staple in the lower mainland since opening on July 1, 1984. It will serve its last season from Saturday, June 4 to September 11, 2016.

“We hope we have been able to create fun memories of waterslides as part of growing up in the lower mainland.” Many students had their first summer jobs at the park and many couples have met at the park while working. “There have been a lot of laughs, from annual charity events for Make A Wish to getting to meet great people over the year,” said general manager Harold Frederiks.

The park attracts nearly 100,000 visitors each year and hopes to go out with one big splash. The three month season will provide locals one last chance to relive their childhood memories and enjoy the water slides.
