Slap on some SPF and enjoy a weekend full of sun, fun, and public art. This Saturday, Granville Island is hosting its first ever ART SMASH event.
Working closely with the Vancouver Mural Festival team, Granville Island event organizers are uniting art lovers across Metro Vancouver with a street party featuring tons of exciting activities, live music, food and drink.
ART SMASH will bring 10 artists together to paint new murals in the popular Chain and Forge area. The artists will turn the space into a colourful outdoor gallery for visitors and passerbys to admire. The purpose of the project is to celebrate the creation of art in public spaces by making it cost free and accessible for all to enjoy at anytime.
With live mural painting in the mix, there will be plenty of opportunity to watch the magic happen and to meet the artists who transform our city’s streets. Local DJ’s will also be playing music and dancers from the Vancouver Street Dance Festival will be giving exciting performances.
Not only this but if you really want to get glammed up for public art, a free glitter and face art station will be set up. Why watch art happen when you can become it?
Local food trucks and craft breweries will be on site with plenty of food and drink to keep you from going hungry while the excitement stirs.
