After successfully launching a pilot project in Vancouver, Translink is procuring 32 of their own double-decker buses buses by 2019.
The idea was first proposed in 2017, when Translink’s CEO, Kevin Desmond noted how they could help combat crowding on busy routes.
They have 83 per cent more seating than the traditional highway coaches, and double the capacity. As a result, many people feel they are more roomy and therefore comfortable.

32 New Double Decker Buses
Originally, British manufacturer Alexander Dennis has supplied the company with two double-decker buses, completely free of charge. Following this, Translink has determined that the vehicles are a worthwhile investment for the city.
Translink encourages riders to share their experience with the new buses. You can share your experience by visiting translink.ca/doubledecker and complete the survey!
