If you love visiting museums, then Vancouver is where you’ll want to be.
Three of the city’s popular attractions are introducing Pay-What-You-Can entry on the first Sunday of every month, meaning that visitors will be encouraged to donate what they can to be able to enter.
Vancouver Museums
Starting February 1, the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, Museum of Vancouver, and Vancouver Maritime Museum will be open for by-donation entry on the first Sunday of every month. In a media release, director of programming for H.R. MacMillan Space Centre said, “We believe curiosity should never be limited by cost.”
“Pay-What-You-Can Day reflects our mission of learning without frontiers, welcoming everyone to explore the universe in a way that feels accessible and inclusive, no matter their background or budget.”
Wondering what you can check out at each of these museums? We cover each of them below.

Museum of Vancouver

The Museum of Vancouver is all about the city it’s named for. Looking deep into Vancouver’s history, this museum offers tons of exhibits that illuminate the city itself. From the Suitcase Project to Living with Long Covid, there’s plenty for all you folks interested in learning a bit more about our West Coast hometown.
Vancouver Maritime Museum

The Vancouver Maritime Museum is great for anyone interested in stories about the Pacific Northwest and the Arctic. One of their most popular exhibitions is the RCMP Vessel St. Roch, which is a National Historic Site that is housed in an iconic, mid-century modern A-frame shelter. You can also check out some of their feature exhibits. This includes Arctic Passageways, Mysteries of the Deep: A Whale of a Tale, and many others.
