The Abbotsford Police Department has confirmed that one of its own officers is currently being investigated for alleged theft.
In November 2017, Abbotsford Police Department Drug Enforcement Officers executed search warrants at a residence in relation to a drug trafficking investigation.
While searching the suspect’s residence pursuant to a search authority, officers located cash, weapons, drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Brian MacDonald was subsequently charged with eight counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. His trial is underway in Abbotsford Provincial court this week.

During the trial, a surveillance clip taken inside home has led to serious questions. The footage shows one of the Abbotsford Police officers taking money found in the home and potentially placing it in his shoe or socks.
That officer states he placed the money in his sock as part of an ill-conceived joke and, that he had put the money back. As part of his testimony, the officer denied that he had stolen the money.
A clip obtained by CBC highlights what the trial is currently reviewing:
Current Investigation
The Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner has been advised of the circumstances so a public trust investigation under the Police Act can be initiated.
The officer currently being questioned has been placed on administrative duties until the outcome of the case is reached.
