There is something about the 13th floor of a hotel that already feels a little unsettling.
This October, one downtown Vancouver hotel is leaning all the way into it.
Delta Hotels Vancouver Downtown Suites is transforming Room 1313 on its 13th floor into the scene of a fictional murder, inviting guests inside to search for clues, uncover secrets and figure out who committed the crime.
The limited-time Halloween experience, officially called Suite 1313: The Thirteen Club Mystery, is being created in partnership with local experience company Vancouver Mysteries and will run from October 8 to 31 at the downtown hotel.
And unlike a traditional escape room, this one takes place inside an actual hotel suite.
There are 13 suspects and only one killer
The premise is straightforward: there has been a murder in Room 1313. Now, it is up to you to solve it.
Guests begin in the lobby of Delta Hotels Vancouver Downtown Suites, where a Vancouver Mysteries detective meets the group before taking them up to the 13th floor.
From there, players enter Suite 1313 and have 90 minutes to investigate the crime.
Throughout the experience, teams search for evidence, work through escape room-style challenges and try to determine which of the 13 suspects is responsible.
A detective remains with the group throughout the mystery and can provide clues along the way if investigators get stuck.
Even better for anyone who has experienced Suite 1313 before, The Thirteen Club Mystery is a brand-new case created specifically for the experience.
That means returning detectives will have an entirely new murder to solve.
So, unfortunately, your knowledge of the previous killer will not help you.
The mystery doesn’t end when you leave Room 1313

Once the crime has been solved, or the 90-minute clock runs out, guests head back downstairs.
The second part of the evening takes place at Stock & Supply, the restaurant inside Delta Hotels Vancouver Downtown Suites. Each ticket includes one drink per guest, with a choice of house beer or house wine, along with a Stock Board to share between every two guests.
The customizable Stock Boards are one of the restaurant’s signature offerings, while Stock & Supply’s broader menu focuses on local ingredients and inventive, approachable Pacific Northwest-inspired food and drinks.
As a result, Suite 1313 lands somewhere between a murder mystery, an escape room and a night out for food and drinks.
The entire experience takes approximately two and a half hours once the dining portion is included.
A different kind of Halloween night in Vancouver
Halloween in Vancouver usually brings haunted houses, costume parties, pumpkin patches and horror movie marathons.
Suite 1313 offers something a little different.
Instead of simply walking through a haunted attraction, guests become part of the story. Groups need to communicate, examine evidence and piece together the case before time runs out.
Plus, there is something undeniably fitting about staging the whole thing in Room 1313 on the 13th floor of a downtown hotel.
The experience can work as a Halloween date night, a group outing with friends or even a team
