
Get excited! Upon years of planning and budgeting, SFU’s Student Union Building (SUB) will finally break ground.
A total of 469 SFU students attended the Annual General Meeting and voted to give the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS) the approval to collect a loan for the new $65 million SUB and stadium project on the Burnaby campus.
According to the SFSS, the $65 million will be allocated as follows
- $10 million – Stadium
- $3.5 million – Working drawings/renderings
- $1.5 million – Schematic design and development
- $365,000 – Site-selection and space programming
- $35 million – Construction
- $15 million – Completion, taxes
- $5.4 million – Remaining (contingency)
The project is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2017.
