After 20 years of land acquisitions, a joint effort between Metro Vancouver and the City of Surrey with assistance from the Province came to fruition. The opening of Surrey Bend Regional Park last spring marked the 23rd regional park for the province.

The 348-hectare park of mostly floodplain area sits along the Fraser River and Parson’s Channel. It includes 4 kilometres of multi-use trails and picnic areas. The park includes the Surrey Bend Bog which is the 3rd largest in the Fraser Valley at 79 hectares. Much of the park’s landscape also includes undisturbed and ecologically protected areas. The protected wetlands, forests, marshes and bogs are home to diverse wildlife.
