The construction of megastar singer Michael Buble’s new home is not sitting well with some local residents.
The 2.9-acre lot situated at Government Road and Piper Avenue in Burnaby has received some complaints.
The main issue is not the 27,000 square foot house that will occupy the area, but rather, the eight-foot fence that has been built around it for security reasons.
The fence is double the height of what City bylaws would normally allow but Burnaby city clerk Dennis Back told Global News that Buble isn’t receiving any special treatment but several relaxations were granted by the board of variance.
The new house is expected to have a swimming pool, tennis courts and there’s talk of a possible ice rink being installed in the basement.
Buble is from Burnaby originally and also owns a house in a West Vancouver. The new house in Burnaby is situated across from the school he attended as a child, Seaforth Elementary.
