Drone Captures Epic Winter Moment In Surrey’s Serpentine Fen

Simply known as Serpentine Fen to Surrey locals, the freshwater marshes freeze over in the winter providing a natural ice rink for skaters of all kind. Drone footage titled “This Is Why I Fly A Drone” captures nature at its best and even an ice hockey game in progress:

The Serpentine Wildlife Area (SWA) is over 70 hectares of wildlife habitat along Serpentine River. The habitat area is home to an over 100 bird species throughout the year as well as various mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish and insects.  In addition to a covered picnic area and nature trail there is also agricultural land known as the Serpentine Annex.

The video by Vancouver-based travel vlogger Christian LeBlanc was filmed on a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced this winter. The adventurist and self-proclaimed selfie specialist got some Insta-fame last year when he posted an “elphie” (selfie photo taken with and by an elephant) when an elephant he was feeding at a sanctuary in Thailand snatched his GoPro camera:

I give you, the Elphie ?

After graduating from UBC and resigning from his corporate “dream job” he is in pursuit of pursuing his passion of travel and vlogging to the fullest.
