After a week of power outages, wind and rain Juno Awards winning 2014 Breakthrough Artist, Brett Kissel revved up the crowd. Debuting songs from his new album, Pick Me Up such as radio favorite “Airwaves, ballad “Pick Me Up” and “I Can Play Guitar which features Hunter Hayes” had the crowd on their feet and begging for more. Besides the new songs, Kissel played a mixture of his older hits and some cover songs from bands like Def Lepard, Bon Jovi and Alabama’s “I’m In A Hurry” which had the crowd on their feet, dancing and singing along.
During his performance of “Airwaves” Brett went into the crowd and pulled a 12 yr old boy up on stage who as he put it reminded him of himself at 15. He then while singing the song signed his Gibson and gifted it to Owen saying “Mom, you need to get him some lessons now”. The audience went wild!
Kissel as well as being a great performer and entertainer made everyone feel at home. Encouraging people to tweet, Instagram, Snapchat and photograph the concert. He said no flash photography was bullsh*t! Which in turn only garnered more appreciation from the fans.
At such a young age, this artist garners the swagger of Johnny Cash and engaging personality of Brad Paisley or Keith Urban. He is definitely going places but at the same time you could imagine pouring a whiskey in your kitchen and listen to him just play guitar!
